I am a graduate of Ashland Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling. I also have a bachelor degree from Franklin University in Business Administration. I am independently licensed by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage & Therapy Board (License No. E1200016). I am a member of the Ohio Counseling Association and the EMDR International Association.
I became a counselor at a the suggestion of a counselor who I was seeing as a client (go figure)! I know what it's like to be in the role of the client and to experience pain. I know the work it takes during the healing process and I applaud anyone who is willing to embark upon this journey. You are very brave and stronger than you realize and you are not alone! I have had the joy of experiencing healing and being able to help comfort and counsel others for a living. I am truly blessed and work each day at practicing what I preach!
I am a proud wife, daughter, sister to 3 siblings, and an aunt to 14 amazing nieces and nephews. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, working out, playing and walking with my dog, trying new restaurants, hanging out with my buff husband, and restoring our old house.
I began my journey as a counselor in graduate school in 2006 and began practicing in 2009 at a community mental health agency and have since worked in school and home settings, a college counseling center at Columbus College of Art and Design, an EAP (Employee Assistance Program) organization, and now in private practice. I have enjoyed each phase of my counseling career and learned so much in different sectors of the counseling world. Prior to becoming a counselor, I worked in the business sector for a financial services company for 12 years.
I have a passion for trauma work and feel so privileged to see people released from the grip of the past that often keeps them stuck in life and robs them of living in the present. I often utilize EMDR to help clients move from a negative belief that keeps them stuck and help them move toward a more adaptive way of thinking. The more positive our thoughts/beliefs are, the better our emotions and behaviors will become!
I enjoy working with women dealing with low self-esteem, poor self-confidence, codependency, and relationship issues. There is nothing more exciting than watching a woman grow in confidence and to be able to experience true joy in life! I also provide counseling for depression, anxiety, and phase of life issues. While phase of life issues may not seem like that big of a deal, they can create intense feelings of anxiety, fear, and inadequacy. From starting high school or college, getting married or divorced, from having kids to becoming an empty-nester - these are all phases that can be difficult to navigate.
It would be an honor to help you get to the root of these issues and help you create lasting change. Treating the symptoms is okay and can be part of the process, but developing a healthier foundation from which to launch into a beautiful life is the ultimate goal. I would love to walk alongside you in this journeyof healing!
